Furthermore, it assumes that indeed your CalmAV version is outdated. The How To will help you to fix the issue and get towards an up to date version.

Fix WARNING: Your ClamAV installation is OUTDATED!

It is actually not too difficult to fix this issue. You simply need to run an apt update on your command line to get it fixed. To do so, you should create a backup of your system first and than, secondly run the below command:

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

This will output something like the below:

eading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Reading state information... Done
Calculating upgrade... Done
The following package was automatically installed and is no longer required:
  raspinfo
Use 'sudo apt autoremove' to remove it.
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  kms++-utils libdrm-omap1 libjson-c3 libkms++0 raspi-utils
The following packages will be upgraded:
  clamav clamav-base clamav-daemon clamav-freshclam clamdscan libclamav9 raspinfo
7 upgraded, 5 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 0 B/1,801 kB of archives.
After this operation, 742 kB of additional disk space will be used.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n] y
Reading changelogs... Done
Preconfiguring packages ...

Updating FireMotD available updates count ...

Alternatively, you can run:

apt-get install clamav clamav-base clamav-daemon clamav-freshclam libclamav6

To check if all is fine now you can run again the above. This should give you something like:

0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

That means, there is nothing to be upgraded anymore and your ClamAV is updated.
